Allergen Adsorption Testing
Allergen adsorption testing can be requested.
In recent years, pollen, mites, mold and pet hair have all caused problems for people as health hazard-causing allergens.
In order to avoid the hazards posed by these allergens, research is being undertaken into the development of allergen-adhesive fibers of various types, with some currently in use. However, the lack of a test to objectively evaluate the amounts of allergen adsorbed by these materials has become a problem both for the process of developing new materials, and following-on from real-life application of the materials.
Since hearing the advice of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries regarding “Applying agricultural biotechnology and industrial research” in 2004, we have undertaken cooperative research with the National Agriculture and Food Research Organisation. Making use of that research, we have realized a test method for evaluating the adhesion of allergens onto various material types.
When we are sent a material (fiber) by a client, we are able to test to what degree allergens are adsorbed.
Allergens are detected by absorptiometry and electrophoresis.
With pre-testing required to evaluate the appropriate amount of allergen for adsorption onto the test material, analysis can take some time.
Please choose between the six allergen types available.
| Allergen name | Origin | Price (including consumption tax) |
|---|---|---|
| Cry j 1 | Cedar pollen | 210,000YEN |
| Cry j 2 | Cedar pollen | 315,000YEN |
| Der p 1 | Mites | 210,000YEN |
| Fel d 1 | Cat hair | 210,000YEN |
| Can f 1 | Dog hair | 210,000YEN |
| Alt a 1 | Mold | 210,000YEN |
These are pricings for comparative analysis between one control and one sample.
Prices are identical in the absence of a control.
On occasion, without first performing the test, it is impossible to make an appropriate allergen selection.
When the target allergen is not defined it is advisable for all allergens to be run for evaluation purposes.
When all six allergen types are tested for, the test will be conducted at the reduced price of 1,050,000 Yen (consumption tax included).
Please contact us regarding customized testing to customer needs (pricing decided on consultation).
Allergens used in testing
If the client is already in possession of an allergen (commercial, or through other means), undertaking analysis with the allergen may be possible (the allergen must be a protein). Where the client provides the allergen the price of testing is reduced.
Detection methods
Absorptiometry and electrophoresis are the detection methods used.
In absorptiometry, the protein concentrations are measured before and after absorption to determine the absorption ratio.
In electrophoresis, the electrophoresis pattern is used to observe the presence of allergen and decrease in allergen due to adsorption (results are not made quantitative).
