Aflatoxin B1 analysis
At our Center, aflatoxin B1 analysis is performed using a HPLC (High performance Liquid Chromatography) method.
Aflatoxin B1 is a toxin produced by the Aspergillus fungi and said to be the most potent carcinogenic substance of all known natural products.
If aflatoxin B1 is ingested in large amounts, it will cause liver damage and can lead to death.
There are reports of aflatoxin B1 contamination in various food products, including grains, beans, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, tea and hops.
In Japan there is a legal restriction on the aflatoxin B1 level in food products set by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Food products that contain greater than 10ppb of aflatoxin B1 are in violation of the Food Hygiene Law.
