Zearalenone analysis
Zearalenone is a toxin produced by the Fusarium fungi and is a natural endocrine-disrupting compound.
Pigs are most susceptible to zearalenone. By ingesting feeds contaminated with zearalenone, pigs can develop enlarged external genitalia or suffer stillbirths or miscarriages.
In Japan, the provisional standard value for the level of zearalenone found in livestock feeds, but not in their raw materials, in set at 1ppm ( parts per million).
Zearalenone analysis is performed at a discounted price when combined with the analysis of two trichothecene mycotoxins.
