Fuji Plant - Environmental Policy (effective January 4, 2010)

Kyowa Medex Fuji Plant locates and manages at the foot of Mount Fuji with respect to clean air, water and nature.

1. We apply nature preservation activities with sufficient consideration of environmental risks occurred from whole functions in the plant.
2. We implement our target and secure all related local/international laws, regulations and agreements to reduce the burden against the environment.
3. We concentrate in environmentally-friendly production activities by aggressively adopting such environmental conscious technology and product innovation model.
4. We positively participate in environmental conservation activities in the community.
5. We disclose our environmental policy upon request.

Major actions

Clean-up activity at Kise river

Actions to prevent earth heating - Energy saving

• Work on energy saving through temperature/power control. We participate in “Kyowa Eco Project Activity” to save energy and waste as part of our ISO activities.
• We replace Freon R502 by refrigerant Iceon 69-L as part of our actions to prevent earth heating.

Actions to prevent air pollution

• We adopt Heavy fuel oil A to maintain sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide at lower level.

Actions to prevent water pollution

• We strictly control sewerage with reduction of draining at each department.

Actions to reduce waste

• We achieved “Zero emission A” on plastic waste with volume of dump reduced by Zero.
• We commenced circulatory recycle program of foam polystyrene effective August 2003.
• We further strengthen waste sorting and recycling to aim “Zero Emission A”.
• We strive to use recycle paper, to shrink package as well as to reduce volume to incinerate.

• We consume slight volume of chemical substance with no obligation to report to authorities concerned which classified under PRTR regulation category 1.
