Enzyme origin
In 1975, Kyowa Medex developed and marketed an enzyme-based reagent for measuring cholesterol “Determiner TC” as an innovative, accurate and safe product in serum cholesterol measurement.
Various enzyme based reagents developed upon Kyowa group’s R&D capability in the biotechnology field to make further advances in the high-level technology accumulated until now.
Kyowa Medex laboratory developed and marketed unique IVD reagents based on characteristics of enzyme. It includes “Determiner IP-S”, the first enzymatic reagent innovated in the world to determine inorganic phosphate.
Thus, Kyowa Medex achieved to acquire the firm basis as R&D based company.
Realization and fusion of enzymatic technology and synthesis technology
Upon expansion of IVD reagents based on enzymatic reaction, demands to measure biogenic element at trace amount had been increased.
Kyowa Medex researchers achieved to develop high sensitive chromogenic substrates without risk of coexistent substances known as “Determiner NEFA” (reagent for analysis of free fatty acid), “Determiner UA-S755”(reagent for analysis of uric acid) and ‘Determiner LPO” (reagent for analysis of lipid peroxide).
These products meet the demand of clinical testing field upon realization and fusion of enzymatic technology and synthesis technology.
Various innovative products
Advanced technology on stabilization of enzymes and compounds had been accumulated. Kyowa Medex succeeded to develop liquid reagents “Determiner L series" without necessity of lyophilized formulation as well as preparation of reagents.
In the immunological area, we have developed and marketed “Determiner DUPAN-2"(tumor marker), “TGBL antibody" (for detection of specific antibodies in the blood of tuberculosis patients), the reagent to measure “Oxidized LDL" and “Extel HemoAuto", the reagent to detect human hemoglobin in stool for colon cancer screening.

Kyowa Medex developed superior reagents for lipid analysis such as “Determiner TG (reagent for analysis of triglyceride) and “Determiner PL" (reagent for analysis of phospholipid)
Kyowa Medex acquired the patent with the principle of analysis on Lipoprotein cholesterol without centrifugation by chemical modification. We launched an innovative reagent “Determiner HDL Cholesterol" in 1994 with huge impact on the clinical testing field in the world which followed by “Determiner LDL Cholesterol" in 1998.
Our new reagent "MetaboLead RemL-C" has been regarded as beneficial products to easily measure remnant cholesterol, said to have strong correlation with arteriosclerosis.

Leading company of fecal occult hemoglobin reagent/analyzer
We developed and marketed “HEMOAUTO”, a reagent utilizing latex agglutination to measure human hemoglobin in feces with superior stability, high sensitivity and quick quantification.
“HM-JACK” the fully automatic analyzer is available to make pierce sampling for analysis of fecal occult human hemoglobin with excellent accuracy. It has outstanding method to measure large numbers of samples in a short time.
